5 Questions to Ask Before You Hire a Tree Professional

Regardless of your professional tree contractor choice, we do not recommend removing a tree by yourself. This is dangerous, requires special skills, training and equipment. The obvious potential of making a big mess, damaging property or harming oneself are considerable.

Here are some questions to ask when selecting a tree professional:

1. Are they licensed and bonded?

You want to know they are properly insured and that you will not be liable for damage, accidents or injuries, this includes appropriate licensure.

2. Can they provide proof of license, insurance and bonding?

It’s important to understand and validate licensing, insurance and bonding.

3. Can they provide a list of references?

Ask for customers that they have done work for in the past month or so. Any company with a  good reputation will be happy to share their list of satisfied customers,  also you can check their Yelp!, Google Local or Facebook page.

4. Will they provide you a detailed estimate of the work which explains the process and payment terms clearly?

This is crucial to be certain everyone is communicating properly and the full scope of the work is disclosed and agreed upon.

5. How long will the project take?

This information will help you understand the estimate, and if need be, compare the process between contractors. Quite often the low-bid includes short-cuts that do not benefit the property owner.
